Our first experience of medical device packaging came in the early 1960’s when we were amongst the pioneers of the first sterile packs for single use surgical blades, using Cobalt 60 Gamma Irradiation. In the period from the 1960’s to the 1980’s we developed our own in-house specialist packing lines for the packing of sterile surgical blades.
In the late 1990’s we started to manufacture Self Seal Sterilisation Pouches, initially for the dental market, using unique, high-speed, fully validated plant, and since then we have grown into the UK’s largest volume manufacturer of these products.
In the early 00’s we went on to launch a sub-contract packaging service to the medical devices industry. Now known by the name Cleanline® we offer an almost infinite range of customised turnkey packaging solutions that meet the demands of our customers in the medical, dental, orthopaedic, podiatry and other challenging arenas. From cleanroom hand and machine packing, right through to thermal washing and disinfection, our services play a critical part in the commercial success of the customers who use them.
In recent times, we have commissioned and installed a 6-colour flexographic printing press at our premises in Sheffield, enabling us to print all our own sterilisable packaging materials in-house and to supply the medical devices industry with printed sterilisable rollstock packaging materials.
